Drama Teachers & Leaders

After celebrating his 50th year teaching, our theatre now has the honor of

being named after our amazing teacher.

Mr. Turner is the head of the Theatre Department and Drama Program,

and we all have him to thank for keeping the program going as strong as it has been.

But hey, after spending his life fighting dinosaurs and working for Shakespeare,

what else can you expect from this man?

Savannah Patton has been teaching all different styles of dance for 13 years now. She began competing at 3 years old, and went on to be awarded 1st place in almost every competition she participated in as a child, along with being chosen as the "best dancer" at Amador High School in 2013. After high school Savannah went on to take classes at her college and join a company in Santa Barbara, California for 4 years. Her love of dance is contagious and shows through the passion that her students hold for dance.

Drama Officers

Student Leadership is a large part of what makes our program special. Each year a group of Drama Students assume leadership positions to help plan, organize and execute the Departments shows, events, and fundraisers. Here are this year's fearless leaders:

To date, her favorite drama experience has been portaying Elmer in Newsies, as well as participating in the general Newsies ensemble. IAN MASON McMAHAN

Vice President & Secretary

A Senior at Amador High School, Ian has been in love with the Amador High School Drama Program since before he was even a student here. This investment, in addition to his understanding that the program benefits from strong student leadership, inspired him to become a Drama Officer. Knowing that he is going to help manage the many events and shows the Program puts on, along with the responsibility of encouraging student engagement and comraderie, is what brought him to this Leadership Team. Ian's favorite production thus far has to be William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, in which he portrayed Claudius, that the Program put on during his Sophomore year. His death scene is a particularly fond memory, that was both entertaining and dramatic for him to do. This year, Ian is most excited to see how the unique Advanced Drama Class - exiting out of a pandemic - will handle the Spring Show. Outside the Drama Room, Ian plays for the Varsity Football Team, has served as the Student Member of the School Board for Amador High School, and takes Advanced Placement classes, of which his favorite are History and English.
